I’m back in Carnegie after having a fantastic weekend at Intervention, and I’ve got enough down-time to prepare myself for the trip to Chicago. Sort of. I’m still screaming like Hell on the inside, as I’ve never driven that far before. Ever.
I consider it a great adventure, but I also know it’s probably going to be pretty taxing. What I do know is I have an abundance of hope for my time in Chicago in terms of how much creative stuff I’ll get accomplished. We’ll see how much I accomplish versus how much more self-loathing I’ve banked by the end of the week.
Presently, I find myself in that sad, post-convention rut more commonly known as post-con depression. Intervention weekend exists in that strange time-space location that somehow goes by more quickly than any other time ever. The fun must invariably come to an end on Sunday. I’ve got a smallish announcement regarding Intervention VI, by the way, but I’ll let you folks squirm a bit on that instead of just giving it away. I’m just the worst sort of person, I know.
What’s different about Intervention is that it seems to extend into the rest of the year. The joy, motivation, and education that are gained there carry on, I feel, into the rest of the year. The plan is to harness all that good energy built up from this past weekend and make some awesome stuff next week. I can’t go into too many details yet, but I think I may have to start unveiling bits and pieces of the latest novel-project sooner than later. We’ll see.
In any event, tonight is going to be a bit of wind-down time. Before doing so, I’d like to encourage people to follow @CrystalPaladn on Twitter. He’s my best friend/brother-figure, and he needs a bit of encouragement to get back into the swing of Twitter-things.
