Monday, pleasant Monday

Today turned out to be one of the more pleasant Mondays in recent memory, and I think it may be because I found out I have thirty-two unused hours of vacation time. I’m ignoring how such knowledge would have been valuable around the time of my move as I don’t want to defile such a good thing.

Perhaps the wonderful nap I took earlier (I know, I know, I said I needed to stop doing that, but sleep is just so nice after being so busy with something like moving while still working a forty-hour-a-week job). Or the dinner Brianne made.

Beginning to play catch-up on NBC’s Hannibal isn’t hurting, although I will admit that it’s not the best dinner accompaniment in terms of TV shows. I’m only about seven episodes into it, give or take a few (I actually can’t remember at the moment as a lot of things are just sort of blending together lately). I’m trying to remember why I stopped watching it for as long as I did, especially since I have such easy access to season one on DVD.

Admittedly, Monday and I don’t always get along and so having such a laid-back, relaxing start to the week is almost unsettling. I realize there’s something genuinely ridiculous in saying Monday is an inherently bad thing, especially given the number of people who no longer find their work-weeks confined to the Monday-through-Friday nine-to-five. This isn’t a post about “Well, it’s all a matter of how you look at something” or blah blah blah positivity. Nope. Just enjoying a particularly pleasant Monday just a little more before I head off to bed and prepare myself for…well, another day at work.

How did everyone else find this Monday? Hopefully it wasn’t too unpleasant.

Keeping it simple

Tonight’s post will be short, a little sleepy, and at the very early stages of being sick. Or perhaps I just described myself. Probably that.

Anyone who has seen The Blacklist and not told me I need to watch it immediately: shame on all of you! To those of you who have not yet seen The Blacklist, but enjoy good action-comedy blendings with all sorts of other emotional stuff: season one is on Netflix. I’ve been watching it a fair bit in my free time and I love everything. The character dynamics are fun, the plot twists and turns in ways that aren’t entirely unpredictable while still being tremendously fun to watch, and the writing is a beautiful blend of humor, drama, action, and so much more.

Seriously, go watch it. You’ll thank me later, probably.

The trouble-side of fandom

Yes, this is a One Hundred Days of Blogging post. I’m trying to not tack that onto all of the titles (a little late into the game for that, I know). It may spark some rage towards me, but I’m willing to take that risk in this case.

The good: I had an excellent time seeing Guardians of the Galaxy for a second time, but this time with Jason at Hollywood Blvd. What an awesome theater/restaurant/whatever. Such a great movie, paired with terrific food, made for an excellent time all around. Oh, and there’s the good company I had, too, I guess. I should probably mention that as well.

The bad (which I will keep brief so I don’t get scolded for letting this roll around in my brain): Some ass-jackal swiped my debit card info and treated themselves to about $150 in purchases at Target. I hope, in some special kind of karmic justice, those purchases maim the person/people who made them. You pieces of shit.

Fortunately for everyone, this post has nothing to do with the volume of food I had tonight, nor does it have to do with the shit-eating troll-pukes who took some of my money (I’m sorry, folks, but my blood is molten lava right now and I am trying to suppress my inner rage-monster by using all the hyphenated phrases). This is about fandom, and it’s a tricky topic to say the least. Continue reading

One Hundred Days of Blogging – Day Fourteen

Did I commit to one hundred days of blogging? Or was it one thousand? It feels like it’s going to be a thousand. Feel free to mock me for bitching already.

This is a glorious Tuesday, except for the impressive number of hours that were absolute shit. However, the important bits remained important, and I’m pretty stoked about those. Tonight will be another pop culture-loaded nerd-post, which should be a nice break from my writing posts. Or maybe not.

Tuesday nights are sacred in the Wacky Shack to begin with, and this Tuesday was just full of awesome. And this intro has been dragged out far too long. Continue reading
